Commitment to Safety
Zero Accident Philosophy
Workplace accidents are costly, preventable, and unacceptable in
today's work environment. Therefore, BSC is committed to an accident
free environment under the guidelines of the President's Zero Accident
Council and other environmental safety and health committees that
reinforce this policy. Through its Zero Accident Philosophy, BSC
is committed to the goal of eliminating all workplace injuries,
illnesses, and over-exposures. This goal can only be achieved by
continuously and systematically improving BSC's Integrated Safety
Management system, reducing hazards, and modifying unsafe behaviors.
Integrated Safety Management (ISM)
The BSC Integrated Safety Management (ISM) system is a methodical
approach for integrating safety into all phases of work as we progress
toward project goals and initiatives. The elements of ISM are fundamental
to BSC's management philosophy and are considered commitments to
our Department of Energy customer for the safe performance of work.
All BSC employees are responsible for identifying potential hazards.
In response, BSC continually reviews the ISM system to ensure that
its processes and mechanisms are effective in protecting workers,
the public, and the environment. By valuing worker input and involvement,
the ISM system continually evolves as we identify and implement
improvements.
